The snaffle bit encourages the horse to raise its head. It is often used on horses that walk behind the bit. When taking the reins, the mouthpiece slides up and the horse gets pressure in the corners of the mouth and at the back of the neck. The bit can be used with one or two reins or with pelham straps. In most cases the bit is used with two reins, one rein is normally attached to the bit and the other reins to one of the lower rings or the end of the pull-up straps. In this way, the rider can only use the fetch effect if it is really necessary. This bit is not suitable for the inexperienced rider.

The double-jointed bit has two hinge points, is shaped more towards the mouth and lies a bit looser in the mouth. This bit acts on the tongue, the layers and the corners of the mouth. Be careful with narrow lower jaws, the hinge points can then press on the layers, which can cause wounds. Compared to a single jointed bit, this bit acts more on the tongue. A double jointed mouthpiece is a standard mouthpiece.

The Sweet Iron bits are made of steel and have a recognizable blue color. Sweet Iron develops surface rust through contact with (air) moisture that tastes sweet and stimulates the horse’s saliva production in a natural way. This will cause the horse to foam more, which ensures better acceptance of the bit. This rusting process (oxidation) changes the blue color of the TRUST bits to brown-grey.
